Barn Gallery is owned and administered by the Ogunquit Arts Collaborative, a volunteer-run 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit corporation that is funded by contributions from the Friends of Ogunquit Art, gifts and donations, management fees and fundraising activities. The OAC is also the proud recipient of grants from the Maine Arts Commission, Kennebunk Savings Bank and The Joan Dwyer and Jane Dwyer Charitable Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.

OAC has participated in two statewide collaborations of Maine arts organizations ranging from the Portland Museum of Art and Bowdoin College to the Ogunquit Museum of Art and Barn Gallery. The Maine Drawing Project in 2011 and The Maine Photo Project in 2015 featured exhibitions chosen by the various venues to illustrate the richness and variety of their collections and, in the case of Barn Gallery, the inventiveness and skill of their member artists. Barn Gallery held two exhibitions and a variety of panel discussions and programs for each Project. The catalogs, Ogunquit Art Association: Maine Drawing Project Where to Draw the Line and Barn Gallery: Maine Photo Project: Photographers of the Ogunquit Art Association, both edited by Nancy R. Davison and designed by Tom Hibschman, are available at Barn Gallery.

History of the Barn Gallery: Over 50 Years of Excellence

Barn Gallery was built by the Barn Gallery Associates in co-operation with the Ogunquit Art Association in 1958 and opened in 1959 to provide an exhibition space for the artists of the OAA and a center for cultural activities. The building itself is an icon and a superb exhibition space. It is unique in York County and together with the Ogunquit Museum of American Art and the Ogunquit Playhouse it is a vital part of the lively cultural life of Ogunquit and the surrounding area. In 2003 BGA donated the building to the OAC. The OAC began renovations in 2005 and is continuing to raise money for future improvements.

The mission of the Ogunquit Arts Collaborative is to educate and enlighten the seacoast community by nurturing, supporting and presenting art by the best local artists. Artists and friends meet at the Barn to share exhibitions, programs about art and the creative process, and opportunities to create art.

Ogunquit Arts Collaborative

The Ogunquit Arts Collaborative maintains and administers Barn Gallery. Every summer we offer exciting new exhibitions, gallery talks and open studio workshops by members of the Ogunquit Art Association and other local artists. This year we are adding artist demonstrations, poetry readings, and music to our programs. We also feature festive special events including the Student Art Show, the Open Regional Juried Exhibition, the Invited New England Sculptors Show and the Ogunquit Art Association Art Auction.

Ogunquit Art Association

The Ogunquit Art Association was founded in 1928 by Charles Woodbury and other area artists to bring together professional artists to exhibit their finest work to the public and to provide an educational forum. OAA artists contribute hours of volunteer effort hanging exhibitions, teaching workshops and presenting artist gallery talks and panel discussions. The efforts and support of the artists make the Barn Gallery a truly exceptional place to experience the finest art of the southern seacoast area. www.ogunquitartassociation.com
