From May 22nd to October 14th\, 2024\, Barn Gallery throws open its doors to a season of captivating exhibitions showcasing the finest works by juried OAA artists. \nBut the journey doesn’t end there: Delve deeper into the world of art with engaging programs that explore the creative process and ignite your own artistic spark. Unleash your inner artist with hands-on workshops and demos. Whether you’re a seasoned creative or just starting your artistic journey\, find inspiration and guidance at the actual place where Maine’s enviable artistic roots run the deepest. \nOPENING EXHIBITIONS: This exciting new season of art exhibitions and programs by artists of the Ogunquit Art Association begins with their Opening Exhibitions on Wednesday\, May 22nd (with a Gala Reception on Saturday\, May 25th from 4-7:30 PM). There will also be a Gallery Talk with showcase artists Lou Kohl Morgan and Lennie Mullaney on June 13th at 6pm. \nBarn Gallery is located at the Corner of Shore Road & Bourne Lane in Ogunquit\, Maine. \nAdditional Information About the Opening Exhibitions at Barn GalleryRECEPTION: Join us on Saturday\, May 25th (from 4-7:30PM) for our “Gala Reception for Opening Exhibitions”. Admission to the Reception is FREE. \nBarn Gallery will show the work of Artist Members of the OAA (painters\, graphic artists\, photographers\, and sculptors) in our big\, bright\, cool\, and airy spaces. \nThe Sculpture Court will show work of the OAA Sculptors as well as the work of Invited New England Sculptors \nOur Opening-Season Exhibitions will feature: “OAA Expressions” (an exhibition with a wide variety of subject and medium); OAA Artist Showcases by Lou Kohl Morgan (painting) and Lennie Mullaney (painting); our Expanded Collectors Gallery (featuring ready-to-hang artwork\, no larger than 16×20 — and all priced no higher than $850); plus an Invited New England Sculptors exhibit in our outdoor Sculpture Court. \nAlthough there is no substitution for seeing art in person\, we are pleased to announce that virtual versions of our exhibitions will be made available on barngallery.org. DESCRIPTION:Join us at Barn Gallery on Thursday\, June 13th (at 6 PM) for a Barn Gallery Talk by our two Opening Exhibition Showcase Artists: Lou Kohl Morgan (Painter) and Lennie Mullaney (Painter). \nMeet the artists\, see their work\, learn about their processes\, and ask questions. \nThese insightful and inspiring Gallery Talks always provide further insight into our exhibitions and give attendees the chance to hear stories + learn tips and tricks from present day juried artist-members of the Ogunquit Art Association\, Maine’s Original Artists’ Group (est. 1928). \nThis is a FREE event and it is open to the public. \nFeatured Image (above): (L) Lou Kohl Morgan; Dawn\, oil on canvas\, 24”x30” (detail); (R) Lennie Mullaney; The Cricket; 11×14. Ogunquit Art Association (detail). \nAbout Lou Kohl Morgan – PainterARTIST BIO: Lou Kohl Morgan\nBorn in Wichita\, Kansas\, Lou grew up in Oklahoma and California. Her ancestors were early pioneers in the Oklahoma Territory. She takes pride in her Native American ancestry\, tracing part of her lineage to the Choctaw Tribe. \nLou holds a MA and an MFA in Painting from the University of Iowa\, Iowa City\, Iowa. Since 1971\, Lou has taught college level Drawing\, Etching\, Lithography\, Watercolor\, and Pastel. The majority of that time at the University of New Hampshire. \nShe was drawn to the Southwest and the four corners area. In the mid 1980s\, she visited Chaco Canyon and Canyon de Chelly\, camping and painting with artist friends. \nThe land called her back. In 1993 she moved to Taos. She lived in Taos for 17 years; returning to Maine in November\, 2010. Her studio\, 211A is in The Button Factory on 855 Islington St. in Portsmouth NH 03801. \nMuch of her work is done “en plein aire”. She is an observational artist who responds to the environment around her. “Painterly” in style\, she strives to simplify that which is observed to shape\, color and value. \nLennie is a member of the NH Art Association\, NH Plein Air Artists Association\, the Ogunquit Art Association\, and NHMade. Her paintings can be seen by appointment at the Button Factory on 855 Islington St\, Portsmouth\, NH. Studio 211A. Commissions are welcomed. \nLennie holds a MFA in Painting from UNH and a MS in Art Education from CCSU. She has studied painting abroad in Italy. Lennie has exhibited in numerous juried\, solo and group shows throughout the New England and in Italy.
