DESCRIPTION:Join us at Barn Gallery on Thursday\, August 20th (at 6 PM) for a Barn Gallery Talk by our two Late-Summer Exhibition Showcase Artists: Amy Hagberg (Photography) and Carol MacLeod (Photography – Painting) \nMeet the artists\, see their work\, learn about their processes\, and ask questions. \nThese insightful and inspiring Gallery Talks always provide further insight into our exhibitions and give attendees the chance to hear stories + learn tips and tricks from present day juried artist-members of the Ogunquit Art Association\, Maine’s Original Artists’ Group (est. 1928). \nThis is a FREE event and it is open to the public. \nAbout Amy Hagberg – PhotographyARTIST STATEMENT: Amy J. Hagberg\nMy Work Illustrates the way time transforms the past. I utilize analog photography as an instrument of time; marking moments by opening a camera’s shutter. The old New England homesteads I often photograph symbolize people lost within the past. The reflection images\, all from a single negative\, compress what is behind and what is before into a single moment of now. Our perception of today is always colored by past experience and future dreams. \nI further investigate time through the slow exposures in my handmade pinhole cameras\, using 8″X10″ photographic paper for the negatives. This process mirrors the life experience: sometimes a horrible failure occurs\, and sometimes a surprise gift is bestowed. I also create composite images by physically combining two images. I adhere one image printed on translucent vellum over a second printed on cold press paper. This partially obscures the viewer’s gaze from the original image beneath and mimics the shape-shifting of time: the present reshaping our memory \nThe sculptures I construct for photographing are totum interpretations of lost people and places. Sometimes I burn these sculptures in effigy to set them free. I photograph these events with pinhole cameras\, the slow exposures capturing the light of spiritual release. \nThe past may never be revised. But we may choose to use the past as a vehicle to create something new. \nLEARN MORE: amyjhagberg.com \nAbout Carol MacLeod – Photography/PaintingARTIST STATEMENT: Carol Macleod\nI am a native of Maine and have worked in the field of psychiatry and nursing education. Now\, in my retirement\, I happily devote my time and energy to the creative processes of photography and painting. \nPhotography: Themes of my work include moods\, the environment in which we live\, abstractions\, the human figure and face\, and minimalism. My most recent project with photography is dolls that I have found in flea markets\, some disturbing\, some just old and well used and\, most certainly\, loved in the past. I feel these old and falling apart dolls and their fate to be indicative our culture’s view and treatment of aging women. In all of my photographs\, I integrate my instinct\, inspiration and ability to ‘see’. \nPainting: My body of work consists mostly of abstracts\, and bird portraits. I have found in my portraits of birds\, there is a bit of an unintentional self portrait depicting my mood and sense of humor. DESCRIPTION:The 2026 season of art exhibitions and programs by artists of the Ogunquit Art Association at Barn Gallery continues with their Fall Exhibitions — which include artist showcases for Charles Laurier Dufour (Photography) and Annie Lemieux (Photography) — running Wednesday\, September 9th through Monday\, October 12th\, 2026 (with an Opening Reception on Saturday\, September 12th from 4–7 PM AND a Showcase Artists Talk on Saturday\, September 19th from 4–5:30 PM). \nBarn Gallery is located at 3 Hartwig Lane in Ogunquit\, Maine — at the corner of Shore Road & Bournes Lane. \nAdditional Information About the Fall Art Exhibitions at Barn Gallery in 2026RECEPTION: Join us on Saturday\, September 12th (from 4–7 PM) for our “Opening Reception for Fall Exhibitions.” Admission to the Reception is FREE. \nAs the season turns and the coastal light takes on its autumn quality\, Barn Gallery will show the work of Artist Members of the OAA (painters\, graphic artists\, photographers\, and sculptors) in our big\, bright\, and airy spaces. The Sculpture Court will show work of the OAA Sculptors as well as the work of Invited New England Sculptors. \nOur Fall Exhibitions will feature: “Ogunquit Art Association Members’ Show” (an exhibition with a wide variety of subject and medium); OAA Artist Showcases by Photographer Charles Laurier Dufour & Photographer/Painter Annie Lemieux; our Expanded Collectors Gallery (featuring ready-to-hang artwork\, no larger than 16×20 — and all priced no higher than $850); plus an Invited New England Sculptors exhibit in our outdoor Sculpture Court. \nAbout the Showcase Artists\nAnnie Lemieux – PhotographyA lifetime Maine resident\, Annie Lemieux works in photography and painting\, drawn to the way coastal light shifts across the seasons — the particular quality of a moment\, she says\, when words alone are not enough to express what one is feeling. Her work has been exhibited at the Saco Museum and recognized with awards including the Juror’s Choice Award at KPT ArtHouse in Kennebunk. Lemieux holds a BFA and BS in Art Education from the University of Southern Maine and has pursued graduate work at Heartwood College of Art. \nCharles Laurier Dufour – PhotographyCharles Laurier Dufour creates fine art figure photography by placing nude models within Maine’s landscapes and seascapes\, with a strong emphasis on composition\, light\, line\, and form. His work ranges from the purely aesthetic to the deliberately evocative and narrative — at times the figure becomes an extension of the earth itself\, at others an embodiment of human emotion inhabiting a place long after the moment has passed. Dufour’s work has been exhibited at Studio 53 in Boothbay Harbor and in a solo show at Rogue in Lewiston\, and has earned awards in juried competitions in both the US and Canada. \nAlthough there is no substitution for seeing art in person\, we are pleased to announce that virtual versions of our exhibitions will be made available on barngallery.org.
