Davison & Painter Madeleine Hopkins on Thursday\, May 28th at 6pm. \nBarn Gallery is located at 3 Hartwig Lane in Ogunquit\, Maine — at the corner of Shore Road & Bourne Lane. \nAdditional Information About the Opening Exhibitions at Barn GalleryRECEPTION: Join us on Saturday\, May 23rd 2026 (from 4-7 PM) for our “Opening Reception”. Admission to the Reception is FREE. \nBarn Gallery will show the work of Artist Members of the OAA (painters\, graphic artists\, photographers\, and sculptors) in our big\, bright\, cool\, and airy spaces. \nThe Sculpture Court will show work of the OAA Sculptors as well as the work of Invited New England Sculptors \nOur Opening-Season Exhibitions will feature: “OAA Expressions” (an exhibition with a wide variety of subject and medium); OAA Artist Showcases by Printmaker Nancy R. Davison took printmaking from Leonard Baskin at Smith College and set up her own printmaking studio after graduation. She is best known for black and white linoleum cuts and aquatint etchings of architectural landscapes\, especially of the southern Maine seacoast. She began making political prints during the Gulf War. Her current exhibition at Barn Gallery is a retrospective view of etchings and linoleum cuts from 1976 to 2019. A life-long volunteer in the arts\, Davison is a founder of the Ogunquit Arts Collaborative/Barn gallery\, a member of the Ogunquit Art Association and the Boston Printmakers. She is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. Hopkins has worked as an illustrator\, painter\, interior designer\, gallery owner/manager\, architectural designer and she is a self published author. Tickets may be purchased online now — or in person beginning on May 8 at the Ogunquit Town Hall\, 31 School Street; Cricket’s Corner\, 41 Shore Road; or the Ogunquit Welcome Center\, 20 Shore Road. \nScroll down and continue reading for additional important information… \nPURCHASE TICKETS NOWAdditional InformationA Concert Extraordinaire is planned to celebrate Ogunquit Performing Arts’ 30th Annual Chamber Music Festival including an 8-member ensemble of piano and strings\, and a premiere performance of newly transcribed overture by Rossini. \nIn recent years\, OPA’s Chamber Music Festival has featured an ongoing partnership with Boston Chamber Music\, which every year puts together a special trio or quartet for the Ogunquit concerts\, unique to OPA. \nThis year\, in celebration of 30 years of OPA Chamber Music Festivals\, pianist/leader Randall Hodgkinson has brought together an ensemble of eight musicians (piano and seven strings)\, for a concert extraordinaire. \nTheir program will include the premiere performance of the brilliant overture to Rossini’s opera\, Semiramide\, transcribed by Hodgkinson especially for this occasion\, and the first-ever transcription for this group of instruments! \nThe program will also include Mozart’s lyrical Concerto in A\, K. 488\, and Brahms’ warm\, orchestral String Sextet in Bb\, No. 1\, Op. 18. \nThe Program:\nRossini: Overture to Semiramide for piano and string ensemble\, transcribed by Randall Hodgkinson. \nThis popular Overture is celebrated for its dramatic tension and brilliant climaxes\, often performed as a standalone concert piece. Composed in 1823\, Semiramide opens with a 12-minute orchestral showcase of suspense\, melodic richness\, and Rossini’s signature crescendo techniques. Although it contains material from the opera\, this bright Overture hardly suggests the blood and gore of the story that follows! \nMozart: Chamber version of Concerto in A\, K. 488 (arranged for string quintet and piano) \nOne of Mozart’s finest and most lyrical concertos\, this 1786 work is admired for its lyricism\, emotional range\, and formal perfection. It is a staple of the classical piano repertoire\, frequently performed by major pianists and orchestras worldwide. Critics often single out the second movement as a sublime exemplar of Mozart’s genius for expressing deep feeling with utmost simplicity and grace. \nBrahms: String Sextet in Bb\, No. 1\, Op. 18 \nThe Sextet is notable for its symphonic sound\, with Brahms utilizing the two cellos and two violas to create rich\, dark timbres. He specializes in music in the Black American tradition\, particularly jazz\, avant-garde\, and other improvised music. Evan is a graduate of Berklee College of Music\, where he received a Bachelor of Music in Bass Performance and studied with John Lockwood\, Francisco Mela\, Bruno Raberg\, Billy Kilson\, Linda May Han Oh\, and others. He has performed and recorded throughout New England with John Dalton’s Spheres of Influence\, Shinya Lin\, Jim Robitaille\, and others\, as well as with his own group.
