Unfiltered passion. Authentic art. 96 years strong. Barn Gallery and the Ogunquit Art Association: Where artistic heritage ignites contemporary creation.
The Ogunquit Art Association (OAA), founded in 1928, holds a significant spot in the history of American art. The Ogunquit Art Association (OAA) emerged from Ogunquit’s status as a thriving art colony in the early 20th century. Established by Charles H. Woodbury and other prominent artists, the OAA holds the dual distinction of being both Maine’s original and longest-running artist association.
For culture enthusiasts seeking authenticity and artistic integrity, the OAA and its Barn Gallery offer an unparalleled experience. Unlike many commercialized art spaces, the OAA carries the spirit of those founding artists who sought to create and exhibit without catering to trends and fleeting tastes. Visitors can sense this commitment to honesty in expression, a refreshing reminder of the power of genuine art. If you crave artistic experiences that are unfiltered and true to the artist’s vision, then a visit to Barn Gallery is not merely recommended, but essential.
For their 2024 season, the Ogunquit Art Association (OAA) proudly steps into its 96th year, alive and vibrant as ever. Step into Barn Gallery, and the OAA’s mission explodes into a living, breathing spectacle. Walls thrum with captivating art, each piece an extension of the artistic voice of a juried OAA member. Opening exhibitions crackle with the electricity of vibrant conversations, where artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts of all walks of life mingle in a celebration of shared enthusiasm.
Passionate OAA members hold captivating talks, weaving tales of artistic journeys and igniting the flames of inspiration. Interactive demos and workshops offer a glimpse into the artist’s world, inviting visitors to witness the magic firsthand. This is not merely an exhibition – it’s a pulsating experience, a chance to immerse yourself in the raw, unfiltered energy of the OAA’s artistic spirit. So, come witness the legacy in modern-day action. Come, be a part of the art.
An Art Auction Milestone: It’s a BIG birthday year for one of the most enduring and cherished of our traditional OAA events! The biggest annual Art Auction in Ogunquit and one of the MAJOR cultural events on the summer arts calendar in Maine: The 70th OAA Art Auction (Preview: July 31, Aug. 1,2,3; Auction: August 3 (doors open 6pm; auction begins at 7pm)!
Ogunquit Art Association Membership Jury 2024: Over the past few weeks, we’ve heard from multiple artists who aspire to gain membership in the prestigious Ogunquit Art Association – and how they used 2023 to strengthen their portfolios for submission to our jury. Are you among them? Now that the OAA has moved to biennial jurying on the even years – 2024 will be your big opportunity to put your best work forward for consideration. We’re looking forward to seeing your work. Make it count. This 2024 Jury will be your only chance to gain membership in the OAA until we open up the process again in 2026.

Open, Regional, Juried Show 2024: Barn Gallery will also host our popular Open, Regional, Juried Show. Since 2004, the Ogunquit Arts Collaborative/Barn Gallery has invited local artists who are not members of the Ogunquit Art Association to submit work for Regional Artists: An Open, Juried Show. Our past jurors for this show have been museum directors and curators, gallery owners, art critics and other distinguished citizens of the art world. We are delighted to offer area artists this opportunity to exhibit in our 2024 Open, Regional, Juried Show at the Barn Gallery.
