Additional Information

Barn Gallery Talk - Ogunquit Art Association

Artists Nancy R. Davison and Deloris White have written, compiled and published books of their own poetry and pictures. Each approached the making of a book as an adventure – a new way to present their work.

Davison’s Summer Cottage: Art and Poetry combines her relief prints of York Beach Maine in the 1980s and ‘90s with recent poems to give an evocative view of summer life in Maine.

White’s Listen to the Trees is a collection of haiku and monotypes created in an attempt to understand the emotions and turmoil of navigating loss and grief.

The artists will read excerpts from their books and describe the process of putting a book together.

About The Artist: Nancy R. Davison

Barn Gallery - Nancy R. Davison - Ogunquit Art Association

Nancy R. Davison took printmaking from Leonard Baskin at Smith College and set up her own printmaking studio after graduation. She is best known for black and white linoleum cuts and aquatint etchings of architectural landscapes, especially of the southern Maine seacoast. She began making political prints during the Gulf War. A recent exhibition focused on the interplay between her poetry, her prints and her paintings – some political, some personal.

A life-long volunteer in the arts, Davison is a founder of the Ogunquit Arts Collaborative/Barn Gallery and a member of the Ogunquit Arts Association Association, and the Boston Printmakers. She is listed in Who’s Who in American Art.
