Some came for the art. Others for the wine and laughter. But everyone left with the same thought: This is why Ogunquit, Maine has been an art colony for generations. At the 2025 Late-Summer Exhibitions opening (on the evening of Saturday, August 16th, 2025) the legacy of the Ogunquit Art Association felt palpable — not as history, but as a living, ever-evolving, and inspiring force.

Inside, the crisp walls came alive with a striking collection of paintings, sculptures, photographs, and mixed-media works, each piece a bold declaration of artistic vision. At the center of it all: “OAA Expressions,” a dynamic showcase of the Ogunquit Art Association’s juried members, where tradition and innovation collided in a riot of color, texture, and form. This was art in its purest state — unfiltered, unrestrained, and undeniably magnetic, undeniably now.

Adding depth to the evening were two standout features:

  • A 50th Anniversary Showcase honoring sculptor David Schneider, whose five decades with the OAA have left an indelible mark on Maine’s artistic landscape.
  • The Expanded Collectors Gallery, where accessible, ready-to-hang treasures (all 16×20 or smaller, priced under $850) invited visitors to take home a piece of Ogunquit’s creative soul.

Outside, the Sculpture Court transformed into an open-air gallery, where works by OAA sculptors and Invited New England artists stood in dialogue with the salt-tinged breeze and fading summer light.
