One of our most cherished traditions at Barn Gallery is our annual schedule of free Gallery Talks where art-lovers assemble to hear artist-members of the Ogunquit Art Association (OAA) discuss their processes, techniques, mediums, experiences, and inspirations.

That long-standing tradition continued on August 18, 2022 as our late-summer showcase artists Kimberly Meuse and Christopher Gowell PLUS Moderator (and OAA President) John Andrews opened a freewheeling arts discussion in front of a very engaged crowd.

There was plenty to talk about.

In addition to her status as a juried member of the OAA, Gowell is a sculptor, painter, and director of Sanctuary Arts, an artists’ residential and studio community with a “skill-based” art school and bronze casting teaching foundry. There she lives, and has her studio in an active arts environment.

Meuse, also a juried artist-member of the OAA, is self-taught in her style of watercolor painting, after an introductory course in college where she studied Graphic Design opened the door to the wonders and challenges of the medium. After a decade of working in corporate design, she followed her heart to fine art and watercolor.

The audience appreciated the opportunity to hear these two accomplished artists discuss their lives in the arts while surrounded, in our comfortable Barn Gallery setting, by the showcase work they have created.

After the talk, the audience members spent quality time mindfully appreciating the artists’ evocative work while mingling with the artists themselves; and the pleasant buzz of local cultural talk filled the air as another Ogunquit summer day slowly turned to night.
