Artist Statement
I have been involved with photography for the past 20 years, beginning with black and white film, shooting a story I have found, and then printing in the dark room. I now shoot digitally and edit in Photoshop, usually editing only as much as I did in the darkroom. Most recently, I have been using a specialized lens on my mirrorless camera designed to develop varying degrees of blur and focus which helps to design a specific statement within the image. And more recently, I use the camera in my iPhone and edit with photo applications. Whatever the camera, I have begun using the process of montage or overlay to develop a composite to build story, rather than finding one.
